We need EIGHT Scouts and TWO adult leaders to help our Charter Organization with one of their biggest public ceremonies and barbeque this Memorial Day! Date: Memorial Day, Monday May 28, 2018. Time: Shift One: 10am – 2 pm Shift Two: 1pm – 4pm. The official ceremony is from 1-2pm and the BBQ is from 2-4pm. Where: Elks Lodge and Veteran’s Park. The ceremony includes a flag retirement and raising, presentation of colors to a decorated Veteran’s family, keynote speaker, related booths, live band with Military music and a BBQ held in the Elks Lodge south parking lot. Ceremony is free to the community and the BBQ is $5 for anyone other than Veterans, current Military, and First Responders. Scouts who volunteer also eat for free! SHIFT ONE: Four Scouts and One adult leader. Scouts arrive at 10 am to help with set up, bringing out sodas, chips and getting the food stations set up along with folding and stuffing programs. The Scouts will also hand out Programs and Poppy’s before the ceremony, then assemble so that they can be recognized and acknowledged. The first shift can eat while the second shift takes over. SHIFT TWO: Four Scouts and One adult leader. If the second shift arrives around 1:00 pm, they can also join in the assembly and then enjoy the ceremony then help with the BBQ. As time permits, the second shift can eat if they’d like. Scouts wear Class A (no sash) and should be able to take direction. There’s a lot of activity during each shift. This event creates great visibility for Troop 718 with our new charter. It also serves our veterans and there’s BBQ! Please sign up ASAP to join and help. Thanks!
