Birth Center Tour – May 29, 2018 @ Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

Visit Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Childbirth Center and birthing rooms, and learn more about Cottage’s family-centered approach to birth. Pre-admission, visitor guidelines, parking, and other relevant patient information will also be discussed.  Tours are free, but pre-registration is required.  Register for the estimated number of people you will bring with you on the tour.  Tours last 40 to 45 minutes. Meet in the main lobby at the intersection of Pueblo and Castillo Streets 10 minutes before the tour begins. Attending a Childbirth Preparation Class?  If you are registered in one of our Five-Part series, you do not have to register for the tour, it’s already included!  If you are registered in a Two-Part Series or One-Day Class, please register for the Birth Center Tour.

Nature Cruise (3pm) @ Cachuma Lake Recreation Area

Let our Park Naturalists guide you on a 2-hour Lake Cruise aboard the Osprey. A 30-passenger pontoon boat for easy wildlife viewing and personal comfort, the Osprey explores the Lake as Naturalists follow nature’s serendipity to reveal the area’s natural and cultural riches. In all seasons, Cachuma Lake is a thriving habitat for a great variety of wildlife, birds, fish, trees, and plants. Our winter season often brings out resident and migratory Bald Eagles and waterfowl from November through February. In spring and summer, wildflowers spangle the hills, resident birds can be seen displaying and building nests, and fawns appear with does. The tour is appropriate for all people ages 5 and up. Our boat can comfortably accommodate visitors who use walking aids, and we have a walk-on ramp (please let us know in advance so we may assist you). Join the Adelfos Ensemble in concert for a rich feast of Renaissance music (circa 1500) by composers around the imperial Hapsburg-Burgundian court of Maximilian the Great, such as Heinrich Isaac, Ludwig Senfl, Jacob Obrecht, Pierre de la Rue, and Josquin des Prez — everything from tender love songs and fun-loving Carneval tunes, to monumental ceremonial motets, the “heavy metal” of the Renaissance!

Two performances:
Friday, June 1, 7:30pm at St. Anthony’s Chapel, Garden Street Academy (2300 Garden St.)
Saturday, June 2, 4:00pm at Trinity Episcopal (1500 State Street)

Prepared Childbirth Classes: Five-Part Series, June 5 — July 3, 2018 (5 Tuesdays) @ Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Prepared Childbirth Classes will help prepare expectant families for the arrival of a new baby. Our classes are appropriate whether you choose natural or medical options for coping with labor discomfort. Specially trained registered nurses provide expert preparation and support for the challenges of pregnancy and labor.  We offer different class times and lengths for your convenience.  A longer class offers more time for hands-on practice and activities.  The Five-Part series is the longer class.
