Noted for his long and busy career as a producer and music director, Steve Weisberg is bringing his orchestra, with a who’s who of LA’s top session musicians, together again for a variety show-style concert.
Joining Weisberg’s amazing 17-piece orchestra will be NRBQ founder Terry Adams, noted indie Latina singer/songwriter Gaby Moreno, Billboard Jazz Charting Ghanian-American singer Abiah, noted father/son act The Cages, Suzy Williams – long known and loved as the songbird of Venice, and up and coming singer Clara Zimm, with more special guests to be announced.
Weisberg has extensive experience as an arranger and musical director on recordings and live events often for famed producer Hal Willner with artists including Sting, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithful, K.D. Lang, Macy Gray, BØRNS, David Byrne, Lou Reed, Carla Bley, Michael McDonald, Kesha, Tony Clifton, Howard Tate, Shane McGowan, Jill Sobule, Jackson Browne, Bill Frisell. and many, many more.
Weisberg describes his orchestral aspirations to be “Lawrence Welk meets Spike Jones meets Frank Zappa.” Adding, “come on down and get ready to be amazed, surprised and thoroughly entertained!”

Santa Monica’s Shore Hotel and JUST Water are celebrating their new partnership by inviting everyone to make a swap for sustainability in an event open to the general public called “Recycle Your Moves.”
Taking place on America Recycles Day (November 15), the “Recycle Your Moves” event invites the first 500 guests swap their plastic water bottle for a free bottle of JUST Water. Attendees will also be invited to ‘recycle their moves’ with hip hop dance performances and enjoy a playlist of music curated for the occasion. With this activity, the partners will ignite the appreciation of the general public to make the swap and support the city’s commitment to sustainable travel.
They say that in life, you reap what you sow. Storytellers will share how true that was for them at “SHINE: Harvest” on Thursday, November 15 at 7:00pm at the Santa Monica Playhouse. They’ll recount inspiring true stories of how earlier words or actions planted the seeds for life-changing events.
The stories will take us from the deserts of Las Vegas to the wilds of Guatemala, and the top of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. We’ll also travel from the strange byways of madness, a swim with the real-life “Jaws,” to a brilliant personal victory.
Storytellers selected for this month are Rachel Artenian, Leonard Bearne, Erica Blumfield, Jeffree Davis, Hardy K. Edwards, Michael Shutt, and Kirsten Wasson.
“SHINE: Harvest” will be also be hosted by the charming Kirsten Wasson. Since arriving in Los Angeles from New York, Kristen has presented stories at many venues including Tales by The Sea, P.E.Z., I Love A Good Story, Tell It! and SHINE, as well as reading stories on KCRW’s UNfictional. She is a counselor at a private secondary school, has published a book of poetry, and her memoir, Unaccompanied Minor: Growing Up in Flight, is forthcoming.
Live music will be provided by Nikki O’Neill is a singer-songwriter, guitar player and band leader, deeply in love with rhythm & blues and soul music. She performs with her band, The Nikki O’Neill Band, in LA venues such as Hotel Cafe and The Mint. Her 2018 singles and 2017 EP have received positive reviews by blues magazines in Europe and radio play on blues stations in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
