“Nine”

Nine: Tony-Winning Musical Based on Fellini’s 8 1/2 A critically acclaimed musical, Nine is a clever adaptation of Italian director Federico Fellini’s comic masterpiece 8 1/2. It delves into the mid-life crisis and nervous breakdown of a world-famous Italian film director as he contends with the many women in his life — his wife, his mistress, his muse and more — while preparing to shoot his latest picture, the aptly titled Casanova. Nine debuted on Broadway in 1982. It went on to win five Tonys, including Best Musical, while the 2009 film adaptation, starring Daniel Day-Lewis, Nicole Kidman, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson and others, was nominated for four Academy Awards.
