Join Seattle Historical Arts for Kids for this truly enchanting youth-theater double bill! Kids aged 7-15 bring all the best parts of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to life with Shakespeare’s words and a selection of songs from the Bard’s own time, accompanied by musicians on period instruments. After intermission, SHAK’s high school solo singers take the stage with John Frederick Lampe’s elegant yet hilarious 1745 comic-operatic retelling of one of the play’s most beloved scenes. The fully-sung Pyramus and Thisbe is accompanied in Baroque splendor by a chamber orchestra of top Seattle early-instrument specialists including Ingrid Matthews (violin), Caroline Nicolas (cello), and John Lenti (theorbo).
The overall run time is about 90 minutes with intermission. With eye-catching period costumes and fine music, this performance is suitable for everyone from young children to grownup fans of historical performance.
Suggested donation: $5-10 children / $10-20 adults, online in advance or cash/check at the door. Pay as able.
