The public is invited to provide feedback and information on proposed amendments to the Seattle Energy Code by the City of Seattle.

Topic: Envelope and C406 Credits

The following proposals are being considered:

  • Require thermal bridging analysis for a few significant building elements – balconies, window frames, etc.
  • Reduce allowable fenestration (windows and other glazing) U-values
  • Exempt projects involving a change of use with high process loads from building envelope improvements
  • Increase the number of C406.1 Additional Efficiency Package Option credits needed to meet energy code requirements to 8 credits (instead of 6)
  • Change Table C406.1 Efficiency Package Credits to delete credit for “basic” DOAS (Dedicated Outdoor Air System) in R-2 occupancies.  Eliminate double dipping.
  • Delete Table C406.1 credits for fossil fuel-fired equipment
