Northwest Kidney Centers, the community-based nonprofit that sustains the lives of more people than any other King County dialysis provider, will hold a fundraising luncheon at the Westin Bellevue, 600 Bellevue Way NE, at 11:30 a.m. March 18, 2020.

Keynote speaker at the HopeBuilders luncheon will be Amy Purdy, Paralympic snowboard medalist, author, dancer, actress and inspirational speaker.

Emcee will be KING 5 News anchor Jessica Janner Castro.

Purdy is a medal-winning Paralympic snowboarder. She has appeared on "The Amazing Race" and "Dancing with the Stars," toured with Oprah Winfrey and has presented at TED Talks. She lost both legs to amputation below the knee when she was 19 as a result of meningococcal meningitis. At 21, she received a transplanted kidney donated by her father.

The HopeBuilders Luncheon will raise funds for charity care and to help renovate Northwest Kidney Centers' dialysis facility in Bellevue into a one-stop Eastside resource center for kidney patient care, education and research. Construction will be completed this summer on the expanded center, opened in 1981 in the Pacific Office Park at 1474 112th Ave NE.
