Black Ice Theatre Co. & No Nude Men present in association with the Exit Theatre the traveling production of… N E V E R T H E S I N N E R by John Logan Based on a real event which shocked America in 1924, the play tells how two privileged young men Nathan Leopold and Richard Loeb murdered a 14-year-old boy for no other reason than to prove they were superior beings above the law. They were not. Arrested, they came to trial in Chicago, charged with murder. As their trial unfolds, it becomes the setting for an argument over the death penalty. The State wants the two young men hanged. Defending them is the renowned lawyer Clarence Darrow. Calling on the judge to take account of the two mens mental state, he argues that hanging them would be a crime itself: that it is reasonable to hate the sin, but never the sinner. This truly gripping account of the historic trial suggests that, given twists of fate and character, Leopold or Loeb could be anyone who has loved too much, had a broken heart, wanted to prove everlasting devotion, or looked at a loved one and thought, I’d die for you, I’d kill for you. This is a love story set to themes of crime and punishment, the press, the times, humanism, Nietzsche’s philosophy, and the end of the jazz age. Next door, Katurians mentally disabled brother waits. The detectives want to know why Katurians stories feature gruesome plots about child murder and torture, and in particular, why they seem to mirror a string of recent child murders in the area. This brutal dark comedy from Martin McDonagh, the master of the horror-comedy, poses unanswerable questions: Can stories hold the power to cause atrocities? Where is the line between truth and fairy tale? Is a life of horror worth living at all? Drawing on inspiration as diverse as Grimms Fairy Tales, Kafka, and Antonin Artaud, The Pillowman is a dark, twisty, and utterly unforgettable masterpiece from one of Irelands most treasured writers. ______________________________________________________ “Never the Sinner” by John Logan In association with the Exit Theatre Exit Theatre, SF and Duke Theatre, Tahoe March 6, 7, 8, 12, 13, 14 at the Exit Theatre in SF. All shows 8pm except March 8 at 3pm March 19, 20, 21, 22, 26, 27, 28 at the Duke Theatre in South Lake Tahoe All shows 7:30pm except March 22 at 2:30pm Chicago, May 21, 1924. Nathan Leopold Jr., age eighteen, and Robert Loeb, age nineteen, killed fourteen-year-old Bobby Franks. They were quickly apprehended when Leopolds glasses were found near the corpse. Clarence Darrow defended them, pleading eloquently against capital punishment. Why would wealthy young men murder an innocent boy? What demons lurked behind Loebs flashing good looks? Behind Leopolds saturnine intellect? This exquisite Off-Broadway hit explores the complex relationship between these two who longed to create a private world of fevered intellect and romantic passion. The author suggests that, given twists of fate and character, Leopold or Loeb could be anyone who has loved too much, had a broken heart, wanted to prove everlasting devotion, or looked at a loved one and thought, Id die for youId kill for you. This is a love story set to themes of crime and punishment, the press, the times, humanism, Nietzsches philosophy, and the end of the jazz age. ______________________________________________________ “La Cage Aux Folles” by Jerry Herman and Harvey Fierstein Duke Theatre June 12, 13, 14, 18, 19, 20, 21 All shows 7:30pm except June 21 at 2:00pm Georges is the owner of the La Cage Aux Folles nightclub, which features a drag show starring his partner and the love of his life, Albin. But when Jean-Michel falls in love and becomes engaged to the daughter of an ultra-conservative, anti-gay politician, Georges feels compelled to try to present a more traditional family to Jean-Michels potential in-laws. When Albin tries and fails to take on a masculine persona in the role of Uncle Al, he gets more creative in order to find a way to be part of the meet the parents experience. Based on the 1973 French play of the same name, the multi-Tony award-winning La Cage Aux Folles is a musical filled with delightful spectacle and great heart that couldnt be timelier.

Like Hearted House Concerts Presents Dave Nachmanoff @ Address Provided With Purchase (South Lake Tahoe, CA)
Jul 4 @ 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Like Hearted House Concerts is taking the show on the road to South Lake Tahoe CA! Join us for a great show with Dave Nachmanoff on Saturday July 4th doors at 5pm and show at 6pm. The show takes place at a cabin in the forest (address provided after purchasing tickets). Please bring a food item to share and BYOB and BYO chair. When you hear about the music of a guitar virtuoso with a doctorate in philosophy, who cut his musical teeth performing and collaborating with singer-songwriter Al Stewart (Year of the Cat), you know you will be getting something different. In a career that has spanned a dozen albums and thousands of shows ranging from living room concerts to the Royal Albert Hall, Dave Nachmanoff has built a loyal fan base and a unique niche as a performer and songwriter. Touring, accompanying, and recording with his songwriting hero, Al Stewart, for over 15 years gave Dave the chance to get his own music out in front of tens of thousands of people and gained him international exposure and recognition. Over the years, he has shared the stage with a long list of legends of the folk and rock music worlds, including the likes of Alison Krauss, Steve Forbert, Firefall, John Wesley Harding, and blues legend Libba Freight Train Cotten (when he was ten years old). Dave continues to record and tour, playing well over a hundred shows a year in listening rooms, private house concerts, and at other events. He is focusing on using his music to make a difference in the world and benefit concerts are an important part of that. Dave is currently touring the U.S. in support of Cerulean Sky which he recorded with Grammy-nominated producer-engineer Bill Smith, who has worked with Frank Sinatra, Paul Simon, and Yes, among others. The Cerulean Sky studio band included Michael Jerome and Taras Prodaniuk (Richard Thompsons rhythm section), and Carl Byron on keyboards (Jackson Browne, Hot Club of LA). Daves writing has strengthened over the decades and many fans are calling the songs on Cerulean Sky his best yet. When not on tour, Dave Nachmanoff is busy producing for other artists, teaching master classes around the US and working in his unique niche of writing and recording custom songs.
