Shards of Color and Other Broken Things, an art show that explores color and how it changes by images and perspective the artist uses.
Featured artists are Frankd Robinson,TheOuterCircle, Joy Murray and Darlene Newman. It will take place at 430 N Cleveland on Friday March 13 and 14th, from 5-8.

Frankd Robinson uses collage and color to create dynamic paintings that portray the struggles and beauty of life, especially of the African-American community. He’s used art to help people heal, to help the community heal, in his unique and compelling way.

Joy Murray works in a narrative style and uses text in her paintings. She uses many kinds of paper, watercolor, acrylic, and collage. She explores concepts of transformation and the intersection of human life and the natural world. This show will feature many of her pieces on disability and sacred transformation of the body.

TheOuterCircle travels all over the world to expand his vision. His abstract paintings voice subconscious ideas. His pieces have multiple layers and create texture within color. In addition to paint brushes, he uses everything from his fingers to credit cards to achieve a chaotic balance between color and texture.

Darlene Newman uses lively, stylized human forms and bright, expressive colors, her work contains a mixture of humor and positive images, bringing them to life. Bright, acrylic brush strokes and strong, stated lines harmonize to create a finished work that is flavorful.

Michael Newman, 8 years old, uses color, motion and texture for expression. He enjoys creating art and loves to see paint interact within itself. He has sold work since the age of 4, has work hanging in a restaurant and has completed several personal commissions.

The show will also feature the music of Mark Allen, Guitarist.
On Saturday March 14, Joy will give visual journal demonstrations from 4 – 5 p.m. She’ll show easy ways to use collage and visual images to preserve and celebrate your life.
