JAZZVILLE presents Jimmy Ford vs Randy Caputo with 2 drums kits on stage! Along with their quartet and singer Gina Harlan they’ll re-create songs from the album “Drum Battle” , a 1952 live recording by drummers Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich.
Jimmy Ford started drumming at the tender age of 3 years old. He went on to study with various drum instructors to perfect his talent. At 18 Jimmy landed a gig playing with the “Ray Abrams Big Band” achieving his goal and passion playing big band music.
Randy Caputo began his love affair with drums and started playing at age 7. His professional career as a drummer began playing percussion for the Lawrence Welk Show when he was only 17. From 1976 until 1982 he performed at the Los Angeles Playboy Jazz Festivals and has worked with many giants of jazz including Pearl Bailey, Ella Fitzgerald, Ray Brown, Rosemary Clooney, Count Basie, and Scatman Crothers.
Doors open at 5:30 with live music at 7 PM.
