Creamistry ice cream expanding to Belmont Shore
Liquid nitrogen ice cream will be coming to Belmont Shore.
Creamistry uses nitrogen in liquid form as a base ingredient in its made-to-order dairy and non-dairy sweets at its flagship Irvine ice cream shop.
A franchise location is scheduled to open in mid-September in Belmont Shore at 4275 E. Second St.
Liquid nitrogen, which is odorless and flavorless and a frigid -321 degrees, is the ingredient that gives Creamistry’s desserts their creamy texture.
Ice cream typically is made in a batch freezer, where it takes from 30 to 45 minutes for the mixture to freeze into ice cream. But the supersubzero liquid nitrogen is so cold that when it’s mixed with the other ingredients, it freezes the ice cream much faster, resulting in smaller ice crystals and a creamier texture.
