Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital’s Prepared Childbirth Class will help prepare expectant families for the arrival of a new baby. Our classes are appropriate whether you choose natural or medical options for coping with labor discomfort.  Specially trained registered nurses provide expert preparation and support for the challenges of pregnancy and labor.  The One-Day class is held on a Saturday. Course Content: Breathing and comfort techniques Stages of labor and delivery Coaching role for labor companions Medical options for labor and birth, including Cesarean Birth Center Tour Preparing for postpartum with an emphasis on care of the new mom and baby Also register online for a Breastfeeding class and Art of Parenting.  Classes meet  at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

HeartSaver CPR Adult – March 12, 2020 @ Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital

The HeartSaver AED Adult is based on American Heart Association guidelines for the lay public and covers CPR and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for adults and children over the age of 8 years. This course is appropriate for non-professional caregivers, teachers, and any lay person who wants to learn these skills. Participants will receive a course completion card. This class includes of the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator).   This course is designed for non-professional caregivers, teachers, and any lay person who wants to learn these skills. At the end of this course, participants will be able to:• Describe the links in the AHA “Chain of Survival,” including the importance of dialing 9-1-1• Describe and demonstrate the steps of CPR and relief of FBAO• Describe and demonstrate the use of an AED
