Join us for Baby Storytime! The lapsit storytime is designed for babies up to 18 months, and their parent or caregiver. Come enjoy bonding time for baby and you through stories, songs, rhymes, fingerplays, bounce and movement activities, and lots of fun! In the best interest of the enjoyment of the baby, parents and caregivers at our storytimes and equal opportunity to attend, the series will have a limited attendance and families will be admitted on a first come, first served basis. On Wednesday mornings tickets will be distributed outside the library beginning at 10 AM.Adult caregiver participation is required.For babies 0-18 months.

Centered Parenting: What? Why? How? Thursdays 7-9 pm September 15, 22, 29 and October 13, 20, 27 Location: Manhattan Beach Nursery School In this six-week long series Michelle blends the Echo Parenting and Education curriculum with her focus on helping parents work towards self-acceptance as they strive to parent with empathy and unconditional positive regard for their children and themselves. This interactive workshop includes the following material: • Supporting participants to establish and remain focused on long-term goals • Understanding how our own histories inform our parenting • Understanding anger and tools for self-regulation • Setting limits with compassion and emotional coaching • The importance of self-care and self-acceptance for the parent • Introduction to interpersonal neurobiology and human development and how this information can be used to support healthy development. • Introduction to the theory of Non-Violent (Compassionate) Communication (NVC) as developed by Marshall Rosenberg and the application of the tools of NVC to the parenting relationship • Introduction to the theory of Mindset and support for fostering a growth mindset for both the parent and child For testimonials from parents that have participated in Centered Parenting workshops please click here.
