Lifeguards nationwide from more than 50 chapters to compete for titles in individual and team competitions, Aug. 10-13
WHAT: The United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) National Lifeguard Championships will be held in Hermosa Beach, Calif., with more than 1,000 lifeguards and junior lifeguards from across the country competing for individual and team honors, Wednesday, August 10 through Saturday, August 13.
Professional Lifeguards ranging in age from 16 to 80 and Junior Lifeguards from ages nine to 15 will compete in water and beach course events that challenge their lifesaving skills in myriad events from surf swims to beach runs; paddleboards to surf boats. A few of the highlights include the Landline Rescue Relay, Ironman and Ironwoman events, Beach Flags and the 4×100 relay, a shuttle-run-style competition that is called “the fastest event on sand.”

The Los Angeles County Surf Life Saving Association (LACoSLSA) is excited to host this years United States Lifesaving Association’s National Lifeguard and Junior Lifeguard Championships which will be held at the Hermosa Beach Pier in Hermosa Beach, California August 10-13, 2016. The event features individual and team events including swimming, running, surfboat rowing, and surf ski and board paddling.
The event draws over 1,000 lifeguards, former lifeguards, and junior lifeguards from around the Nation. The USLA National Lifeguard Championships showcase the sport of lifesaving and demonstrate the high level of fitness and skill that lifeguards must possess to maintain public safety and prevent drowning and injuries on our nation’s beaches.
