The 28th Annual Richstone Pier-to-Pier Walkathon is on Saturday, April 25, 2015 with check-in beginning at 7:00am at the Manhattan Beach Pier. Walkers start at the Manhattan Beach Pier, travel to the Hermosa Beach Pier and back.
Each year the Walkathon is held in April, which also happens to be National Child Abuse Prevention Month and proceeds benefit Richstone Family Center and its programs to treat and prevent child abuse. National Child Abuse Prevention Month happens every April and is a time to acknowledge the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect, and to promote the social and emotional well-being of children and families. During the month of April and throughout the year, Richstone Family Center is encouraged to share child abuse and neglect prevention awareness strategies and activities and promote prevention across Los Angeles, California.
Kicking off this years Walkathon is USC’s Assistant Athletic Director, Steve Lopes. Roger Van Remmen, CEO of Richstone Family Center says, “We are very fortunate to welcome Steve Lopes to the 28th Annual Walkathon. We here at Richstone are dedicated to building healthy families.”
To help Richstone Family Center build healthy families, this years event will feature many active and healthy lifestyle vendors including KIND Bar, Mamma Chia, Juice It Up! Poise Fitness, Diabolo Beverage, Health Ade, Grow Produce in Manhattan Beach, 325 Coffee, YogaWorks and many others. Warm up classes will be hosted by YogaWorks and Baby Bootcamp just before the Walkathon kicks off at 8:00am.
Walkers and runners can register for the Walkathon by visiting RichstoneFamily.org and pay the registration fee of $25.00 which will give access to an official Richstone Family Center t-shirt, access to all vendors, giveaways, photobooth and more.
