The Case for Climate Optimism Al Gore at the 2016 TED Conference Al Gore, former vice president, Nobel Laureate, and chair of The Climate Reality Project will present his 2016 TED talk via video about which Fortune Magazine gushed, “Gore displayed the fiery and utterly sincere rhetoric… [and] provides an update on his now-famous lecture.”  He asks three questions:  Must we change?  Can we change?  Will we change?”  In this video, Gore now explains why he is genuinely and truly optimistic.  We will pause and discuss the video as we go. Combating Climate Change in China Pat Beiting, long-time resident of Manhattan Beach and friend of Manhattan Beach Community Church, recently traveled to China as part of a delegation to learn about Chinese-led environmental initiatives and China’s goals for developing an ecological civilization.   The delegation was privileged to participate in The First International Forum of Sunshine EcoVillages and The Third Forum for the Rejuvenation of China’s Rural Civilization.  She will show slides of her trip.   Then stay for a   Special Preview Screening of “The World is My Country” Arthur Kanegis, film director/producer, has just completed his uplifting new film, “The World is My Country” — in which Martin Sheen introduces world citizen #1 Garry Davis.   A riveting storyteller, Davis was Danny Kaye’s understudy until, grief-stricken over bombing civilians and the loss of his own brother in WW II, he gave up Broadway and national citizenship to lead a movement for global citizenship.   Joined by Albert Einstein, it culminated in unanimous passage of Eleanor Roosevelt’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights – and in World Passports!  Sheen calls it “a roadmap to a better future,” so invite friends and family to this special opportunity to watch the very first US preview of the complete film.
