Despite specializing in sustainable seafood, the seven Bluewater Grill restaurants in Southern California and Phoenix have expansive bars and weekday and even weekend happy hours featuring extensive cocktail and small-plate menus.
So it makes sense that the Bluewater family celebrates National Pina Colada Day on Sunday, July 10, with a special $5 price on the restaurants’ signature Bluewater Pina Colada, a tropically sweet blend of rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice shaken with ice. The regular price is $9 or higher, depending on the restaurant.
According to the Encyclopedia of American Food & Drink, the words “Pina Colada,” which translate to “strained pineapple,” first appeared in print in 1923. But legends have Puerto Rican pirate Roberto Cofresí serving a mixture of rum, pineapple and coconut to his ship’s crew to help boost morale as far back as the 1800s.
The $5 Pina Colada offer is valid July 10 only
