Come see Joker’s Hand perform at Hennessey’s Tavern in Hermosa Beach! 9pm-midnight
Ever heard of a big band covering Rihanna? No? Well then get ready, my friend! Were happy to introduce you to the new generation of big band music born of rebellion, while continuing to honor the style and evolution of the genre that Sinatra immortalized. How good are we? Glad you asked. We have musicians who have toured with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Robert Randolph and the Family Band and New Kids on the Block. This group is nothing if not upfront: its one of those rare cases where everything you know is right in the name: Weve got Shaun Johnson – an Emmy-winning singer/songwriter who has sold nearly two million albums as part of the nationally known vocal group, Tonic Sol-fa. Then theres the big band sound. Few acts can channel Sinatra as he softly croons about lost love, inhabit Citizen Cope as he belts one out, and then segue into the theme from Spiderman without any indication that these musicians, these eras, and these styles were ever anything but destined to go together. Lastly, theres the experience. Our sound is centered on innovation to ensure that, while each performance is an experience that audiences wont soon forget, no two experiences are exactly the same. Being relatively new to the game, BBE has a fresh sound that audiences havent ever heard before. Looking for a group heavily influenced by the big band era, but which never not for one moment feels as if it lives anywhere but the present? Youll find it with The Shaun Johnson Big Band Experience! Each November the Pacific grey whales begin their southern migration from the arctic waters of the Bering Sea passing through Southern California on their way to the warm water lagoons of Baja returning north around March. While we can’t guarantee an encounter with a whale we will see other marine life such as sea lions bright orange garibaldi pelicans and dolphins in their natural environment. We’ll review basic paddle strokes and boat safety prior to paddling out on our 4-5 mile adventure. *Please note this environment may have rolling water which can lead to motion sickness. Must be 12 years of age or older and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Bluewater Grill Redondo Beach is working to save Australia’s wildlife threatened by the devastating wildfires – and is asking its loyal customers to help.
For every Aussie-inspired Bluewater Burger sold through February 29, 2020, the company will donate $1 to the World Wildlife Fund Australian Wildlife and Nature Recovery Fund.
The effort is being organized in honor of Bluewater co-owner, co-founder Rick Staunton, a native of Sidney. Staunton opened the first Bluewater Grill with Jimmy (Jim-U) Ulcickas in Newport Beach in 1996, and the two have since built the company into one of the largest independent family of sustainable seafood restaurants in the West with 10 locations in California and Arizona.
A Bluewater menu staple since the beginning, the Aussie-inspired Bluewater Burger features a half-pound burger topped with crispy onions, wild arugula, heirloom tomato, a beet slice and fried egg.
