Joshua Alfano found guilty of Torrance killing of Norman Magnus; partner awaits fate
A Los Angeles man who worked for Greenpeace and hoped for a modeling career was found guilty Friday of kidnapping, strangling and robbing his former Torrance landlord, a crime he committed to steal his car and flat-screen television.
Joshua David Alfano, 22, bowed his head as a Torrance Superior Court clerk read the verdict, one that will send him to prison for the rest of his life. A jury also found Alfano guilty of burglarizing Norman Mangus’ home twice just weeks before the killing, a special circumstance allegation that the murder occurred during the course of a robbery and burglary, and stealing his car.
